This project is located in Bintan, Riau Islands, Indonesia, and is invested by PT.BINTAN ALUMINA INDONESIA. Our company was responsible for the pile foundation construction. The length of bored pile ranged from 8m to 55m, and the length of plain concrete pile ranged from 14m to 25m. The lithology of the strata around the pile body was mainly the Quaternary artificial fill layer, the Quaternary Holocene marine and land interaction sediment layer, and the underlying bedrock was granite.
The project started on March 28, 2018 and was completed on March 08, 2021. The project department members overcame many unfavorable factors such as local rainy season, high temperature and complicated geological conditions in Indonesia, and completed a total of more than 2,900 piles with a diameter of 800mm, more than 280 piles with a diameter of 600mm, more than 8,000 piles with a diameter of 500mm in plain concrete and more than 570 piles in pressed grout with aluminum oxide.
The pile foundations of this project were mainly tested by low strain and high strain tests, and the piles were bored piles and CFG piles. The low strain method was used to detect the pile defects and their locations and determine the pile integrity category, the high strain method was used to determine whether the vertical compressive bearing capacity of a single pile meets the design requirements and analyze the soil resistance of the pile side and pile end. The pile foundations were tested and met the design requirements with 100% passing rate.
