The pile foundation construction of Shonan Power Plant Phase I 2×350MW supercritical low calorific value coal unit is located in Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province, invested by Datong Coal Mine Group Shonan Power Plant. A total of 1,475 piles with pile diameter of 800mm and 494 piles with pile diameter of 600mm were completed.
The difficulties in the construction of this pile foundation project lie in the drilling of holes, and the designed holding layer is a pebble layer, characterized by dense, saturated, and with thin layers of medium-coarse sand, gravel, rounded gravel, and angular gravel in parts, with non-uniform grain sizes, and the end of the piles is not less than 2.0m into the holding layer. The upper layer has medium-coarse sand layer and fine sand layer, when drilling to this layer, the drilling rig is required to drill the hole at a slower speed and less footage, otherwise it is not conducive to the quality control of the pile hole. Therefore, in the construction process in accordance with the specifications and design requirements, we strictly control the quality of the hole, especially for drilling mud for mud index daily inspection, and make timely adjustments to the new mud in the mud pool every day.
The piling construction commenced on November 18, 2014 and was completed on March 25, 2016, meeting the owner's overall schedule node requirements. During the construction period, all the staff of our project department earnestly carried out the spirit of the company, strictly implemented the company's rules and regulations, safety regulations and technical specifications, proactively overcame difficulties to ensure the quality, safety and progress of the project, and at the same time, worked seriously and conscientiously, with a consistent mindset, and accomplished the construction tasks in terms of quality and quantity. It was unanimously recognized by the owner and supervisors.
