Gravel pile construction for BASF central tank area liquefied hydrocarbon storage and transportation tank project is located in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, invested by BASF Integration Base (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. A total of 12,903.73 cubic meters of gravel pile foundation treatment work for 3 cryogenic storage tanks was completed.
Gravel pile construction for BASF central tank area liquefied hydrocarbon storage and transportation tank project started on October 04, 2022 and completed on December 09, 2021, 67 days in total, which is in line with the schedule. After third-party inspection, all testing items passed.
The design of this project requires dynamic compaction area using guide hole to assist gravel sinking tube pile construction, conventional guide hole process is mostly using long auger drilling rigs, however, long auger drilling rigs and gravel sinking tube piles are large-scale construction, which will result in dense equipment on site, cross-influence each other, and reduce the efficiency of the construction. In order to save construction space and improve construction efficiency, the construction department tries to use hydraulic power head for the steel sheet pile driving machine and configure screw drilling rod for guide pile drilling, so that the equipment has high mobility and fast guide pile drilling speed, and the guide pile drilling of one equipment can satisfy the construction of 3 sets of gravel pile driving machine, which not only greatly improves the efficiency of the guide pile drilling, but also reduces the number of large machinery and reduces the safety risk of the site.
During the construction process, the project team showed good execution, responsibility and superior construction technology to ensure the quality, safety and progress of the project, overcame the high temperature and rainy weather, repeated epidemics, bad off-site roads and many other difficulties to successfully complete the construction task. The project was well received by the owner, supervisor and general contractor.
