This project is located in Taixing City, Jiangsu Province, invested by SP Chemicals Storage (Taixing) Co., Ltd. Our company was responsible for the site leveling works and pile foundation construction (including test piles).
The main work content of this project is the pile foundation construction of 240,000 cubic meters propane tank expansion project. This project adopted integrated construction of piles and columns, with pile diameter of 1.2m and pile length of about 67m, totaling more than 540 piles.
The construction of the test pile for the storage tank started on March 21, 2021 and was completed on March 28, 2021, lasting 8 days, including 6 test piles and 6 reaction pile. The construction of the engineering piles started on August 09, 2021 and was completed on October 10, 2021, lasting 64 days, with a contract duration of 105 days, saving 41 days for the owner.
The construction period of this project is in the hot and windy summer season in Taixing area, and the pile foundation project is integrated construction of piles and columns, which causes more difficulties for the construction of pile foundation project. First of all, the high quality of concrete was required under high temperature weather conditions, and the concrete collapsed faster, so the project department strictly controlled the time of issuing materials from the mixing plant and the concrete workability on site, and the concrete whose workability did not meet the requirements was withdrawn from the site. Secondly, strictly controlled the interval time from the completion of underground pile pouring to the pouring of short columns above ground to prevent the formation of quality defects at the intersection of piles and columns. Then, the integrated construction of piles and columns required high quality of surveying and setting out, and the horizontal coordinates and rebar cage top elevation were strictly controlled during the construction process, and all deviations met the specification requirements.
After the construction of the piles, the third-party testing company conducted tests by high strain method, acoustic transmission method and low strain method, and the test results were all qualified.
