On March 21, 2022 local time, Bangladesh Payara 2×660MW coal-fired power plant project (Phase I), which was built with the participation of CHCI was inaugurated in the presence of Bangladesh Prime Minister Hasina, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jieming and Counsellor Liu Zhenhua.
In her speech, Prime Minister Hasina thanked the Chinese and Bangladeshi enterprises and personnel who contributed to the construction of the project. As the largest power station in Bangladesh, Payara Power Station has been instrumental in achieving 100% power coverage in the country, making Bangladesh the first South Asian country to be electrified nationwide. After full capacity, the annual power generation capacity of the power station will account for more than 10% of the current power generation capacity of all units in Bangladesh.
After the celebration, Ambassador Li Jieming and Counsellor Liu Zhenhua conducted a research on Payara project. The ambassador and his entourage met with representatives of the construction companies, listened to a detailed report on the general introduction of the Payara project, the first phase of operation and maintenance work and the progress of the second phase of the project, and exchanged in-depth views with the construction companies on issues of concern such as safety production, epidemic prevention and control and party building work, and gave important instructions. Ambassador Li Jieming highly affirmed the Payara project and thanked all the participants of the project for their outstanding contribution to the friendship between China and Bangladesh and instructed the representatives of the construction companies to continue to play a good role as a benchmark for the Payara project in Bangladesh. At the same time, the project should focus on the future and carry out longer-term development planning to write a new chapter for the development of China-Bangladesh friendship.
Payara 2×660MW coal-fired power plant is located in Botuakhali，Bangladesh, which was officially approved for commercial operation of two units on December 8, 2020. It is the largest coal-fired power plant in Bangladesh, the largest capacity and highest parameter coal-fired power plant project in Bangladesh, and an important project relying on the pragmatic cooperation in the field of energy and power of "The Belt and Road" between the Chinese and Bangladesh governments. This project is the first project of our company to enter Bangladesh market, which started on January 12, 2017 and completed on January 20, 2019, with 6,632 piles completed and 144,315m³ concrete filling, and we are currently working on the second phase of pile foundation construction. All the staffs in the subsequent phase II construction project will continue to uphold the concept of "advancing with the times and pursuing excellence", complete the relevant work with quality and quantity, so that the flag of "CHCI" will continue to wave over Bangladesh, be a good messenger of friendship between China and Bangladesh, and win glory for our country.
