The foundation treatment (dynamic compaction) project for LNG Receiving Terminal Project of Nickel Power Integration Project in Indonesia is located in Morowali, Sulawesi Island, Indonesia, and is invested by JVPT. The whole plant is divided into 2 zones for the foundation treatment, Zone I and Zone II. Zone I is the area of LNG storage tanks and Zone II is the area of other buildings and structures.
The foundation treatment (dynamic compaction) project for LNG Receiving Terminal Project of Nickel Power Integration Project in Indonesia started on February 3, 2023, and was concluded on December 21, 2023, and the main works completed include Zone Ⅰ dynamic compaction area of 6,880 square meters; Zone Ⅱ dynamic compaction area of 86,245 square meters; and terminal area dynamic compaction area of 32,347 square meters.
The early and mid-construction period coincided with the rainy season, and the site was prone to waterlogging, which led to softening of the soil, reducing the effect of the dynamic compaction and increasing the difficulty of the construction. The project department determines the direction of open ditch drainage according to the topography of the site, and digs the open ditch according to the specified slope to ensure the quality of construction; the area of dynamic compaction is timely surface crushed; it grasps the change of weather situation and does the prevention beforehand; the crawler cranes are forbidden to work on the uncompacted virtual soil or low-lying place when dynamic compaction after rain. The bearing capacity of the treated foundations was tested by shallow plate loading experiments and met the contract requirements. In order to solve the problem of not being able to measure the amount of ramming settlement due to insufficient light during the night construction, a laser level was used for the first time during the dynamic compaction process, which improved the accuracy of the records and the construction progress.
During the construction period, our project department reasonably arranges the construction sequence and obeys the unified management of the owner, takes measures to strengthen the safety management according to the characteristics of the project, ensures the site safety construction and the quality of the construction of dynamic compaction, and the work of environmental protection and civilized construction has also been praised by the owner.
